British Library Trip. This workshop gave Y8 and Y10 pupils opportunities to search text and explore purpose and genre of different types of writing in context. They looked at works of famous writers such as Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol” which is studied as a GCSE text in English Literature. Pupils were on the ball and engaged well with the materials and Q&A. They explored the purpose behind Dickens writing and his stage performance which gave them a real insight into the underlining thought processes of writers and what influences their writing. Dickens themes related well to the mass who were working class people and his efforts to influence reform through raising awareness played a huge part in improving living conditions for the under privileged. An excellent workshop fully appreciated by our students.
