Dear Parents/Carers,

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh

I have had to take the difficult decision today to begin to close the school to certain year groups because of staff shortages.

School will be closed for Year 7 and Year 8.  An initial period of 14 days of school closure will therefore begin from tomorrow.  This is NOT as a result of any confirmed case of the Coronavirus but because of staff shortages.

Students in Year 9, 10 and 11 should continue to attend school as normal.  Their timetable will be the same.

While we begin sending individual year groups home, we will do our best to support parents who work in occupations at the forefront of managing the coronavirus situation.

This would mean prioritising the children of these parents to be kept at school in the event of a partial closure even if the rest of their year group was sent home. The occupations covered in this category include those parents working in the health service, social services, education or the emergency services. If you work in one of these occupations (or similar) and do not have access to childcare in the event of a partial school closure, then please notify the school.

Can all parents please make sure we have an active and working email address for your child, as class work and home work will be sent via our student portal.  Students have been sent an email with an activation code, the student should logon using the activation code for them to access the student portal.  If you have not received the email please check your junk or spam folder, if you need further help please email as on info@tawhid.org.uk. We expect parents to ensure pupils at home are supervised to complete the daily lessons set by teachers.

I apologise in advance for any inconvenience this closure may cause. I am confident that you fully understand that I have to make decisions based on what is in the best interests of students and staff and keeping everyone as safe as possible.

I will send regular updates via Bromcom Email/SMS messages as and when further government guidance is received.

Was Salaam,

Mr Mapara
