img-20161213-wa0014-2Upper School pupils (Y9-Y11) received a special visit from a guest speaker, Reverend Anthony Ball, who delivered an assembly focusing on Christianity and ‘Isa (peace be upon him). The Reverend also discussed the Muslim beliefs on ‘Isa (peace be upon him) and the relevance and importance of Jerusalem in both religions.

Reverend Anthony is one of the most senior Priests based at the Westminster Abbey and is heavily involved in community and interfaith projects. He was very impressed with the setup at Tawhid Boys School and felt that he was able to engage with many pupils during his visit. Our School display on the Duke of Edinburgh Award was appreciated by the Reverend and he commended our School’s involvement with this prestigious award.

The Reverend remained in the prayer room for our Dhuhr prayers and really enjoyed observing pupils and staff praying together. Immediately after the prayers, Bilal Siyad (Y9) recited a portion of verses from Surah Maryam in Arabic and this was translated into English by Mr Is’Haaq. This was an important moment, as we were able to share our beliefs on Maryam and ‘Isa (peace be upon him). The Reverend also appreciated the recitation and mentioned that we must organise a visit to the Westminster Abbey soon.

Overall, a successful experience for us and we hope to invite Reverend Anthony again to our School in the near future.
