School Travel Plan Update

> Update: March 2008

Allhamdoulillah, the road safety works outside the school gates have been completed. The pavement has been extended to ensure cars are not parked directly outside the school gates and pupils have a good view of oncoming traffic. The School Travel Plan is also under review, pupils and staff have been working on a new action plan to promote sustainability further. School surveys have been carried out and shows sustainability has improved, due to reduction in pupils travelling by car alone, by 20%. This is great news and Tawhid will Inshallah be applying for the higher sustainable award in June to TfL.

We have also been working with various groups such as Sustrans to promote cycling to school. We are expecting more pupils than last year to cycle to school. Our PE curriculum has also introduced mountain biking with Year 8 and has been very successful. We hope to extend this further throughout Key Stage 3.

We would welcome any suggestions and comments to help us improve pupils walking to school. We therefore request parents and carers to forward their suggestions to Mr Mapara or the school office.
